Things I like

No particular order, and definitely not a tier list. I don't watch a lot of movies and shows — these are the ones that hold a special place in my heart. Rewatchability is the most important factor for me, so this might not have your favourites, the top ones, or the "best" ones. Some I don't even remember adding, so... it's my list! I can rewatch every one of these an unlimited number of times.

Movies

  • Back to the Future trilogy

    Oh man, I watched it a bit too late, but definitely one of the best time-travel movies that has everything!

  • The Prestige

    You don't have to agree with me, but it is still the best Nolan film.

  • 17 Again

    I can never get tired of this one. Zac Efron and Matthew Perry playing the same character, in a 17-year-old body. Love, emotion, feel-good!

  • Moborosi

    As Google says: "a haunting, beautifully paced Japanese drama."

  • Little Forest: Summer/Autumn

    If you like Japanese films and don't have a short attention span, then watch this. There are two other parts as well; I'll have to watch them.

  • 13 Going on 30

    I recently watched it - simply the opposite of 17 Again. My first Jennifer Garner movie, and such a cute story with Mark Ruffalo. A must-watch!

  • The Sixth Sense

    Google says: "human grief, trauma, and empathy over cheap jump scares," and damn, that twist!

  • Alien

    This is not a ranking, but Aliens is the best one, then Alien, and then watch them in any order. Ridley Scott needs to rework the lore, though!

  • The Notebook

    It's Ryan Gosling + a well-written, complete love story. Anything else?

  • Scarface

    The movie that inspired GTA: Vice City. Watched it with my friend Pranay and loved it. Don't know about the rewatchability, but still a classic.

  • Harry Potter series

    Though I prefer the books, this is the greatest adaptation. Great theme music with a perfect cast! Let's see how the HBO series goes...

  • The Dark Knight trilogy

    It's Batman and Christopher Nolan. What else do you want?

  • The Batman (2022)

    Again, it's Batman, Matt Reeves, a brilliant story, and for fuck's sake, a different villain than Joker! A detective story for the world's greatest detective, as it should be.

  • The Lion King (1994)

    Pure story, hand-drawn animation, goated voice acting, and the legendary music score by Hans Zimmer.

  • Home Alone

    Well... why haven't you watched it yet? Still the undethronable Christmas movie.

  • The Hangover series

    Absolute gold. The first one is a must-watch. I wish I could erase my memory and watch it again. 2 and 3 are good too!

  • Spider-Man trilogy

    Specifically Spider-Man 2. This is the best comic-book movie of all time, IMO. Rewatched it 100s of times.

  • Get Out

    Anxiety, thriller, and one of the best-executed films. Go watch it.

  • About Time

    Another time-travel movie on my list. Marvellous, great characters, a different take on time travel, genuine emotional depth, and more of a love story!

  • The Shawshank Redemption

    Believe the hype. (Stole this from Letterboxd.)

Shows

  • Lanterns

    John Stewart cast was perfect, and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan is spot on. Not finished yet, but it keeps me waiting every Monday. Can't recommend it enough! Please suggest me something with better chemistry than these two.

  • Peacemaker

    Hate me, but this is the best show on my list and among the ones I've watched. It has comedy, relatable characters, all the emotions, and Freddie Stroma as Vigilante is the best!

  • The Penguin

    I know, I know, another DC one. Set in the Batman universe. Every episode is 10/10. Colin Farrell - give this man an Emmy. Cristin Milioti, well, a perfect villain... I mean, everyone is a villain in this one.

  • Batman: The Animated Series

    Love the art style. Every episode is a banger, and if Kevin Conroy is the best Batman ever... and I'm including the live-action ones.

  • Justice League (TV series)

    Just let me finish with DC, okay? Just watch it. I hope the new DCU captures at least 50% of the charm of this show!

  • Daredevil (Netflix)

    Okay, finally Marvel! Everything about this show is perfect. Everyone loves Charlie Cox, who doesn't? When I watched this, I wanted to be blind. This is how much I love it!

  • Mr. Robot

    Mr. Robot is one of the few mystery shows that answers every single mystery, and does so satisfyingly. Watch it.

  • Daredevil: Born Again

    Not as good as the Netflix one, but it comes really close. They should have gone with the original 13-episode format, but it definitely doesn't deserve the hate or the comparisons. Still a must-watch for me, as DD comes to the MCU!

  • Loki

    Watch this 10/10 show before Doomsday.

  • Rick and Morty

    One of those shows that can't be recreated. I still think it's the best sci-fi implementation that has it all: standalone, complete-story episodes! Every episode feels like a 3-hour movie in 20 minutes!

  • FRIENDS

    I know you want me to add The Office to this list...

  • Invincible

    This is how you do an R-rated animated show, staying true to the comics while improving where needed.

  • Dark

    Okay, this has the best time-travel execution. Half of it I don't even remember now, but I loved it in 2019.

As I said, I don’t watch much. And yes, I’ve watched Interstellar and Breaking Bad. Bollywood and some more Japanese stuff to come.
